Why it Works
At its core, the template is designed according to the PARA principle (Projects, Areas, Resources, Archive):
- P - Projects βοΈ
- A - Areas of Improvement π
- R - Resources π
- A - Archive ποΈ
These sections help you get started, and as you contribute over time (e.g. upload files, write notes, etc.), your Second Brain will continuously adapt.
As you add tasks to your to-do list and complete them, this Second Brain system automatically shows you a visual chart and calendar of your progress.

Features
π§ Dynamic Workspace (Notion)
This is your "Command Center" for everything. When you get this template, you are getting a dynamic Notion Workspace that is simple yet powerful. Everything is connected and ready-made out-of-the-box. Simply get the template, duplicate it to your Notion account, and then - voilΓ - you're all set.
The workspace comes with simple step-by-step instructions and a starter guide built-in to help you get started in minutes and begin customizing.
𧬠Versatile Hubs (Kahana)
If the Workspace is the Command Center of the brain, then Hubs are the building blocks that live at its core. With Hubs, the possibilities are limitless - start with Hubs for Projects, Areas of Improvement, Resources, an Archive, and Ideas. As you build your Second Brain, you can add unlimited hubs and customize them all to meet your needs.
Each individual Hub comes fully equipped to manage unlimited files, documents, notes, and more. You can invite collaborators to each hub as viewers, commenters, editors, or admins.
β To-Do List
Jot down tasks and activities as you have ideas. Assign tasks to Hubs to make sure they are associated with the right content and collaborators. With this template, you have the ability to assign dates and timelines to each task, and this will sync automatically with your internal calendar.
π Progress Tracking
Measure your progress across tasks and projects and see your growth in a simple chart. As you check off tasks and complete them, your percentage of progress on that project will increase automatically.
ποΈ Smart Calendar
Whenever you add a date or timeline to a task, it will automatically go on your calendar - no need to input anything! Spend less time thinking about dates and more time focusing on what matters.
To help you accomplish even more, we've included instructions about how to connect your Smart Calendar with a Google Calendar.
Who will benefit from this? π
- Students (high school, undergrad, graduate)
- Creators and experts
- Anyone building a second brain
π FAQs / Instructions
Here's a quick walkthrough video that covers how to get the template, the software you will need, how to add hubs, and more. Please note, we are currently in the process of making a more thorough tutorial video that will be released soon, however, we wanted to include this one for now, just so you'd have it!
How to get the template?
Simply complete the checkout process and provide your email. After that, you will receive access to the content & important instructions (see below)
After you get the template, you will also receive invitations from Kahana in order to access the Hubs that come with the Second Brain (Projects, Areas, Resources, Archive, and Ideas). These Hubs are pre-built with helpful folders and come with instructions about how to use them. The email invitation to get access to these hubs will look like the image below:
How long does it take to set up?
Set up takes less than 5 minutes. The template is ready out of the box. All you need to do is log in to your Notion account (or create one for free if you haven't already) and then click "duplicate" on the Notion Workspace after you receive the download link.
Duplicate (Fork) your Hubs and Embed
After you've successfully duplicated your template and have it open in Notion, you are ready to start customizing! Within 24 hours of getting the template, you will receive an invitation to access the Projects, Areas, Resources, Archive, and Ideas Hubs through Kahana. When you accept the invitations, you will see these Hubs appear in your "Shared with you" section in Kahana (see the image below for reference).
From here, you will be able to duplicate (fork) these hubs and add them to your Home Dashboard. This allows you to customize and edit, plus add collaborators after you embed them into your Notion Workspace (more on this in the next section!). For context, here's a quick video about how to Duplicate/Fork your hubs.
After you successfully duplicate your hubs, you just need to copy/paste your hub links to the Notion Workspace (embedding takes less than 3 seconds per hub). See below for what that looks like!
After these steps, your Second Brain will be set up with all the essentials! βοΈ
What software do I need to use for the template?
- To use this template, you need Notion and Kahana. Notion creates an "infinite canvas" that enables the template's connected projects, tasks, to-do list, calendar, and progress tracking. Kahana embeds directly into Notion, allowing you to upload unlimited files, docs, and content from anywhere and collaborate on an unlimited basis.
- Note: By embedding Hubs, you will be able to take advantage of Kahana's 100MB file size limit - this is a workaround for Notion's 5MB file size limit for the free plan.
- Note: Kahana is coming out with monetization features that will let you earn subscription revenue based on your hubs. This overall setup will allow you to transform your Second Brain into a recurring revenue stream.
Why is the Second Brain colored green? π
- Why green? Staring at the color green for 20-30 seconds boosts creativity by 25%! This Second Brain is designed to help you be your most creative self and transform ideas into reality.
